In order to give customers a method to recover access to their encrypted data in the event that they forget their BitLocker password or experience problems accessing the encrypted disc, Microsoft's BitLocker encryption technology includes a critical component known as BitLocker Recovery Service. You are asked to establish a BitLocker Recovery Key when you enable BitLocker encryption on your Windows PC. In the unlikely event that you forget your password or run into technical issues with your machine, you can use this key as a backup to unlock the encrypted disc.
